A suffix is an element of a language that is added to the end of a word.

Sometimes a noun can be modified to express a particular quality (large, small, pretty, ugly) without using a qualifying adjective. These nouns are created by taking the root of the noun and adding a suffix such as -ino, -one, -etto, or -accio. Most common Italian nouns can be modified, but the gender and number of the suffix must agree with the noun.

I observed that Italian journalists use to coin new words using the suffix '-poli', as in tangentopoli, sanitopoli, concorsopoli and so on. I cannot think of a case in which those new words, which are conied day-by-day in reference to limitless…
