At that time there wasn't a clear cut between disciplines.
Babylonia and Egypt also had mathematicians but we don't know their names.

To be honest, I cannot think of a single author in the mediaeval Islamic world who wrote important works both on mathematics and on falsafa. The important mathematicians (al-Khwarazmi, al-Biruni, al-Khayyami) all steered well clear of philosophy. – fdb Dec 27 '16 at 01:13

There were some but they are much newer than the first Indians, Chinese and Greeks. And they are known not because of their own creations but because they brought the knowledge of Chinese and Indians to Europe. – skan Dec 28 '16 at 12:42
