I ran my first code on a mainframe in 1968! Over the years have used Fortran, various Assemblers, various Basics, C, Clipper, Dbase/FoxPro, VBA, Javascript, PHP, Python, R. My main work has been systems modelling, information systems and statistical analysis for forest management, agriculture and GIS. I have used VBA with Excel and Access a lot, and Python with QGIS, developing GIS apps and plug-ins. I do web development with the usual HTML/CSS/Javascript, have most experience with PHP/MySQL, but currently am working in a Python/PostgreSQL web/analysis environment, with plenty of R and Excel as a mixer. Most recently I have been using R, PostGIS and Shiny Leaflet for analysis and user apps.
