Adel has more than ten years professional experience in GIS implementation and consultancy. He has expertise in GIS modelling techniques, satellite imagery and geospatial and spatio-temporal data processing, management and analysis in various sectors such as Transportation, Water Utilities, Defence, Land Management.

He has recently completed his PhD at University College London (UCL) where he undertook research on “Understanding travel behaviour from sparse GPS data” which involved Transportation Modelling, using Machine Learning techniques for classifying and clustering big spatio-temporal data, and developing Geoweb 2.0, Crowd-Sourcing and user-generated VGI content to implement location-based services using a variety of cloud services such as the Google API.

Lately, he has been involved in a number of projects, including some delivering OGC-based web services into the UK Hydrographic Office and the UK Met Office. He was also responsible for designing an approach for representing hundreds of aviation codelists in an OGC CSW-ebRIM registry.
