"It was almost midnight when i reached home" .

in this sentence " home" funtion as noun or adverb.

kindly clarify

  • Direct objects "should" be substantives like nouns, not modifiers like adverbs. – tchrist Mar 12 '18 at 16:42
  • 'I reached home' is the easy one. It's 'Is John home now?' – Edwin Ashworth Mar 12 '18 at 17:51
  • Try putting the preposition 'at' in front of the noun. If the meaning is unchanged then the noun is being used adverbially. – AmI Mar 13 '18 at 00:04
  • Just a note, because I have seen reached being used instead of arrived before: this is not standard. You reach the station, and you arrive at the station. This is not what you asked, yet it might be relevant. – oerkelens Mar 13 '18 at 18:57
