Star of Destiny is a now-defunct Web Comic created by Andrew "Drew" Byrne (aka "hythrain"), starting in 2007. It was written by Drew and drawn by Cathy Lau. It follows the life of Skye McCloud, a believed messianic wanderer, and his girlfriend, Star Yunai. Designed to be similar to a japanese manga, the story is an adventure/fantasy story designed to carry a serious tone to it with some jokes and laughs to not make everything too emo. Unlike most web comics, it is not designed to have each comic be self-contained but rather require multiple pages like traditional comics.
It was originally hosted at starofdestiny.com, but in 2012 Byrne announced a rewrite of the strip; by June 2016 the website was shut down due to "technical difficulties". A "placeholder" page left behind redirected users to the "new Star of Destiny" at Taptastic.com, but the linked page only hosts five installments posted during the summer of 2016. Byrne's Patreon page has had no activity since 2017.
The original site can be found on the Wayback Machine, but apparently none of the comic's artwork was archived.

- Animesque: The comic is designed to be a manga, even being read from right to left. As such, the art style was intended to be animesque.
- Attack Hello: Leon makes his grand debut by trying to kill Star.
- Chosen One: The Zatei actually call Skye "The Chosen One", though the exact purpose of this is unknown.
- Innocent Innuendo: When Star jumps Skye.
- Longing Look: After Star finally comments on Skye's name, the two share a moment.
- Mood Whiplash: Star jumps between sad and angry way too fast.
- Obviously Evil: Seriously, first Leon attacks someone, then he gives this grin! Of course Leon is dang evil!
- Open the Iris: They're anime-style characters. The sizes of their irises/pupils can change with their emotions... well, usually.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Star jokes about making bread with lime juice. In a later short, Star actually makes some, which Skye loves.
- White Magic: Though it's not called white magic specifically, we see the use of healing spells.
