"I was chasing my horse one time, we were playing, this sounds crazy, but we were playing tag in this arena and I'm chasing him around and it was a really deep, sandy arena, and I tripped, and I just did a full-on faceplant, and was like "PLUAAEH", you know, one of those things? And as I go down, and I get the wind knocked out of me, I'm thinking "oh, I gotta remember that sound...""

Samus is actually female, and her name is Jennifer Hale. Also known as "Queen of Hey, It's That Voice!".

Hale is a prolific Canadian-born American actress and singer best known for her voice over work in video games and appearances in numerous animated series. With 129 apperances, she was recently given the title of Most Prolific Voice Actor in Video Games by Guinness World Records. No one was surprised. See the list below for details.

Among her 'lesser' works include the Quest for Glory IV as Katrina and Felicity Hardy/The Black Cat from Spider-Man.

    Notable roles from Jennifer Hale:

    Anime and Manga

    • One of the bad guys in Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel.

    Video Games

    Western Animation

    Live Action TV

Jennifer Hale provides examples of the following tropes:
    • Action Girl/Badass: Most of the characters she voices are these.
    • Casting Gag: Apart from Young Justice, she voices Killer Frost in every animated series she appears in.
    • Cross-Dressing Voices: She is fully capable of voicing boys, but does so very rarely.
    • Hey, It's That Voice!: She currently holds the title of Most Prolific Video Game Voice Actress. And that's not even bringing her work in animation into the mix.
    • I Am Not Spock: She's most known for being the voice of Commander Shepard, but, unlike most instances of the trope, she loves voicing for the Mass Effect games, and doesn't hate or try to distance herself from the role.
    • Ink Suit Actor: Once Bastila's original design as Vima Sunrider was scrapped, her appearance was redesigned to better closely resemble Jennifer.
    • Not Even Bothering with the Accent: Averted. As Bastila Shan, she gives a very convincing British accent.
    • One of Us: Not a gamer herself but she has stated her love of sci-fi and Battlestar Galactica Reimagined in particular.
    • Pigeonholed Voice Actor: She constantly voices Action Girl characters. Mainly in video games, but it does spill over into animation from time to time. It's gotten to the point that, in a choice between video game characters (Shepard v. FemShep, for example), gamers will pick someone else over Jennifer Hale -- just to hear another voice that isn't Jennifer Hale.
    • Woman of a Thousand Voices: She does have a range, as shown by her roles in Totally Spies!, Soul Calibur, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and The Powerpuff Girls, despite having to use her standard Action Girl voice, or a variation of it, to fit certain characters.
    • Relationship Voice Actor: She is usually cast alongside Steve Blum and Nolan North.
    • Rule of Sean Connery: She has been called the Meryl Streep of gaming if that's any indication.
    • Talking To Herself: She usually ends up doing this in video games as she tends to voice other characters other than her main role. And also in Totally Spies! as Sam and Mandy.
    • You Go, Girl!: In her own words, she likes to "play where the boys play," and enjoys voicing Action Girls in order to achieve this.

There's certainly a pattern to find here. With some characters, you even get surprised to not hear Jennifer Hale when they speak for the first time--

OW! It wasn't supposed to be a bad thing, really!
