Fotbalistul FWA al anului

Fotbalistul FWA al anului este un premiu anual decernat celui mai bun fotbalist al sezonului din Anglia, conform Asociației Jurnaliștilor de Fotbal (FWA) (engleză Football Writers' Association).[1] Premiul este acordat începând cu sezonul 1947–48, când câștigător a devenit jucătorul lui Blackpool, mijlocașul Stanley Matthews. Cel mai recent câștigător al premiului este norvegianul Erling Haaland, de la Manchester City, pentru sezonul 2022–23.

Thierry Henry a obținut de cele mai multe ori premiul, câștigându-l de trei ori într-un interval de patru ani.

Nouă jucători au câștigat premiul de cel puțin două ori. Cel mai recent pe această listă s-a adăugat Mohamed Salah care a câștigat cel de-al doilea său premiu în sezonul 2021–22.

Câștigătorul este ales prin vot de către membrii Football Writers' Association (FWA), asociație care cuprinde aproape 400 de jurnaliști de fotbal din întreaga Anglie.[2] Premiul a fost înființat la sugestia lui Charles Buchan, un fost fotbalist profesionist, care ulterior a devenit jurnalist și unul din membrii fondatori ai asociației.[3]

Câștigători

Până în 2023, premiul a fost acordat de 76 de ori, pentru 67 de câștigători diferiți. În sezonul 1968–69, au fost premiați doi fotbaliști, Tony Book de la Manchester City FC și Dave Mackay, jucătorul lui Derby County FC.[4] Tabelul de mai jos indică de asemenea dacă jucătorul respectiv a mai câștigat unul sau mai multe premii majore de "fotbalist al anului" în Anglia, și anume premiul, Fotbalistul PFA al anului (PPY) oferit de Professional Footballers' Association (PFA),[5][6][7] „Fotbalistul PFA al anului în opinia fanilor” (FPY),[8] și premiul „Tânărul fotbalist PFA al anului” (YPY).[6][7][9]
