The piece modulates from G minor to Bb major between the bars 12-14 but I don't know how to mark these chords as they have B natural in them, which doesn't belong neither to G minor nor Bb major. So, what function does it actually have?

Why does taking an extended break sometimes help?
Sometimes as a musician, I find myself in a rut. My solution is to simply put my instrument down and walk away from it for a few weeks, sometimes even a month, and when I come back I'm better than when I was practicing every day.
I have my theories,…

But I always thought that two notes aren't a chord, they are an interval. And according to the Intervals Wikipedia page, an…

Why do jamming musicians "trade fours" (rather than any other number)?
I've run across the idea of "trading fours" when playing in (and listening to) jazz groups; i.e. where two or more musicians take it in turns to play four bar licks or solos. I understand that it can encourage creative interaction between…

How does "triplet feel" for eighth notes affect non-eighth notes?
I'm a software developer creating a MIDI player that can play with "triplet feel" -- that is, when it sees two eighth notes, it plays them as if they were a triplet of quarter note + eighth note. This is traditionally notated like so:

Is it Bad Technique to Use One Finger for Two Keys in Sequence?
I was curious about how a pro might finger a jazz solo, so I paid someone on Fiver to write out the fingering labels. Not a lot of surprises, but there are few spots where they play two different notes in sequence with the same finger (see the last…

Effective way to notate triplets
I was directed by America Luke to this forum site. I hope this is the correct place.
I have a score with a lot of triplets. It's awkward to write always \times 2/3 {c16 d e} \times 2/3 {d e f}.
Since the \times causes not only the duration scaling…
