Target pad design

Why do some handheld target pads have a double-layer design? I remember using a single layer pad when I was a kid. Since then, the double layer design has been introduced. At best I can tell, it makes a louder noise when you hit it, but that's it.

When performing the long stance (ap kubi in Taekwondo), sometimes there is a tendency to lean the hip forward, causing a pronounced S on your spine, where the glutes stick out. So, even if your legs are properly positioned, your overall stance is…

How can I keep my feet clean during training?

So here's the issue: I love kickboxing, but I absolutely detest being barefoot. I hardly ever walk barefoot around my own (clean) home, let alone the (relatively dirty) mats at a gym. That's probably not normal, I get it, but having my feet look…

Using a tree trunk for kicking practice

When training outdoors, it is inevitable that I'll do some kicking practice; using an actual target is much better practice than just air kicking. It turns out that it is often easy to find a tree with a trunk with a size similar to a kicking bag,…
