Were the Jews expecting the Messiah to suffer at all?
When Jesus spoke about his future suffering it did not seem to register properly.
For example:
(Matthew 16:22)
Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”
This raises the question: Did…

Is it possible for The Bible to contain errors?
For those who profess to follow the word of Christ, everyone agrees that the Bible is the infallible word of God as transcribed by many different men compiled together in one book. But for this question, I'm not talking about "The Bible" as in the…

The title sums it up: I often hear it said during the debates on liturgy and music styles that are appropriate for worship that even Luther used common bar tunes (equivalent to days pop songs) for his hymns. Is this true?

Does the Bible condemn white lies?
Orthodox views on it state that any sort of lie is a sin by itself. More liberal Christians will say that it doesn't really mean that much provided it doesn't hurt anybody. But more importantly than personal opinions; what does the Bible have to say…

Why did the apostle John call himself, "the disciple whom Jesus loved"?
John refers to himself, on at least four occasions, as "the disciple whom Jesus loved"? (John 13:23, 19:26, 21:7 & 21:20).
Why is this? It seems a bit arrogant, especially as Jesus loved the other disciples as well.

What significance, if any, does the doctrine of the eternal virginity of Mary have?
I understand that the Catholic Church (and perhaps the Orthodox church as well) teaches that Mary is "the eternal virgin" Mary.
If this were an important doctrine, it seems there would be fairly clear reference to it in the Scriptures. However,…
